01 · Introduction
I am an art educator and practising artist with over 10 years of teaching experience across South Africa, China, and Canada. Throughout my career, I have taught Visual Arts, English, Design and Technology, and Computer Applications Technology to learners of different ages and backgrounds. These experiences have shaped my approach to teaching, helping me create lessons that are creative, engaging, and meaningful.
Alongside teaching, I maintain an active studio practice. Creating my own artwork allows me to continue learning, experimenting, and developing as an artist. It also reminds me of the challenges and excitement that come with the creative process, something I bring into every classroom. I believe students benefit most when they are taught by someone who continues to create, explore, and grow alongside them.
02 · Teaching philosophy
I believe every student has the ability to be creative. My role is not simply to teach artistic techniques, but to help students develop the confidence, curiosity, and skills to express their own ideas. I aim to create a classroom where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and discovering what they are capable of creating.
I design projects around three principles: encouraging creativity, developing technical skills, and building confidence. Every lesson should give students the opportunity to explore new ideas, challenge themselves, and leave the classroom having learned something meaningful while feeling proud of what they have created.
03 · Artist statement
My studio practice explores the people, places, and experiences that have shaped my life, from the landscapes of South Africa to the cultures and communities I have encountered while living and teaching abroad. I work across painting, collage, printmaking, and mixed media, choosing the materials and techniques that best communicate each idea.
My work is driven by observation, curiosity, and a desire to continue learning through the creative process. I keep sketchbooks and visual journals to develop ideas over time, and many finished pieces begin as quick drawings, colour studies, or written notes. Each artwork reflects an ongoing exploration of creativity, experimentation, and personal growth.

Licensed to teach in the province of Quebec, Canada.
